EMD SD38-2 #39 and SD38 #37 switching Mt. Shasta yard in April, 1996

Number 39 was purchased new in 1974 by the McCloud River Railroad.  It stayed on the property when the railroad was sold to (and became) the McCloud Railway in 1992.  39 was sold to Union Pacific in 1997, and is now working as a yard switcher in the Los Angeles area as UP #824.

Number 37 was purchased new in 1969.

Mt. Shasta yard is the interchange point between the McCloud Railway and the Union Pacific (formerly Southern Pacific) mainline at right of picture (looking south).
